The article provides observations on the use of mathematical terms and concepts by a teacher-mentor in the learning process. The purpose of this work is to substantiate the need for the competent use of mathematical terms in the speech of a teacher-mentor in order to form an objectively correct idea of the term system of mathematics in the student. The article provides the correct forms of using mathematical terms and concepts at different language levels. A list of vocabulary words is given, the spelling of which must be memorized. The author pays special attention to the rules for the use of numerals: quantitative, ordinal, fractional, collective. In conclusion, recommendations are given for improving mathematical literacy.
