IS THE GERMAN LANGUAGE RUDE AND UGLY? (FEATURES OF GERMAN SPEECH SOUND PERCEPTION: TRUTH AND STEREOTYPES)

The authors of the article attempt to find out what phonetic features of the German language can give it "rigidity" in sound; to figure out whether these features are really relevant for modern native speakers and whether they are part of the oral speech of Germans.

SOME GASTRONOMIC NAMES IN CARIBBEAN ENGLISH (BASED ON THE OXFORD ENGLISH DICTIONARY ONLINE)

The article, based on the Oxford English Dictionary entries on Caribbean English updated in September 2021, examines gastronyms as the main component of the national Caribbean identity. The etymological and semantic analysis of some names of dishes and drinks of Caribbean cuisine was carried out, the region of their distribution was revealed. Spelling variants of words that existed in various historical periods, and pronunciation variants of Caribbean gastronyms in three national norms of the English language (British English, U.S. English, Caribbean English) were established.

PHRASEOLOGICAL UNITS IN REGIONAL MEDIA

The article provides observations on the peculiarities of the functioning of phraseological units in regional media based on the material of the Ivanovo Newspaper. The role of these linguistic units in the formation of the stylistic structure of the text is analyzed. The wide visual and expressive capabilities of these lexical units in the press are shown.

This article outlines the history of the library, starting from its origin at the Faculty of Chemistry of the IVPI and up to the present day. It includes information about the library directors who have dedicated their efforts to its growth over the years, as well as the tasks and achievements of the Information Center (library) today.

TEACHING FOREIGN LANGUAGES AT IVPI AND ICTI IN THE CONTEXT OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF SOVIET HIGHER SCHOOL METHODOLOGY

The article, in the context of the creation and development of Soviet higher school methods of teaching foreign languages, examines the main milestones in more than a century history of the Department of Foreign languages in the structure of Ivanovo-Voznesensk Polytechnic Institute (1918-1930) and Ivanovo Chemical-Technological Institute (1930- 1991). Important attention is paid to the teaching staff problem, various methods of teaching a foreign language, providing educational literature and to the content of the first basic textbooks for chemical students.

PROBLEMS AND METHODS OF TEACHING CHINESE STUDENTS FOREIGN LANGUAGES AT A RUSSIAN UNIVERSITY

The paper is devoted to the problem of finding effective methods of teaching and testing the communicative competence of Chinese students in Russia in a cross-cultural and cross-linguistic context. At the same time, a trilingual situation is considered – teaching English to native Chinese speakers in a Russian-speaking language environment. The purpose of this study is to analyze the features of the Chinese and Russian systems of teaching a foreign language (English) and its testing/evaluation.

COMBINED USE OF EXPERIMENTAL INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES IN TEACHING RUSSIAN AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE

The paper is devoted to the possibilities of combined application of virtual reality (VR) technologies and the Creative Maps Studio web application in teaching Russian as a foreign language (RFL). The main purpose of the work is to show the potential of combining the teaching methods of RFL with the use of VR technologies and Creative Maps Studio web application for a more effective learning process and for the development of students’ communication skills. The specifics of information technologies available to the Perm State University are presented.

FEATURES OF INTERCULTURAL INTERACTION IN THE FORMAT OF CHINESE-RUSSIAN COOPERATION

By the reason of the change in the vector of language policy in the post-globalization period, the intensification of international cultural, economic, and academic relations, there is a need and demand for professionals in the field of intercultural communication who have the skills and highly developed abilities of intercultural interaction with representatives of the linguistic culture of one of the main partners of the Russian Federation - the People's Republic of China.
