The paper provides the results the researching of the experience of applicants (ISUCT) in 2020, this process being considered as a cultural practice from the point of view of cultural studies. A special focus is placed on the communicative practices of admission in the context of pandemic restriction 2020. The main tracks of applicants’ admission were identified, the importance of the communicative online-infrastructure of admission was determined. In general, applicants demonstrate the skills of searching, learning, self-studying, analysis of information on applying. The track of admission is shifting to the online infrastructure, and an increase in the mobility of applicants is possible. The most promising applicants make extensive use of the rapidly developing online-infrastructure of applying involving the first one at all stages of the admission track, applying traditional offline practices also. The presence in the online environment at different points of the admission track will allow the regional university to attract the most promising applicants.
