REGISTRATION OF NEW ZEALAND WORDS IN ENGLISH AND THEIR PRONUNCIATION IN THE OXFORD ENGLISH DICTIONARY (OED)

The article, based on the material of the authoritative Oxford English Dictionary (OED), presents the peculiarities of semantics, pronunciation, etymology of New Zealand words included in this dictionary in March 2023. Some features of the New Zealand pronunciation representation system are analyzed. The main attention is paid to the comparison of the basic specificities of registering in the OED of variant characteristics of English vowels and consonants in British, American and New Zealand English.

LEXICOGRAPHIC MEANING OF THE LEXEME "KVASS"

The article analyses the history of the word kvass in English language. Particular attention is paid to the use of this reality in the texts of English travelers and in modern dictionaries. On the basis of the linguistic study, information is provided on the borrowing of the kvass lexeme into the English language.

MATHEMATICAL TERMS AND CONCEPTS IN PROFESSIONAL USE

The article provides observations on the use of mathematical terms and concepts by a teacher-mentor in the learning process. The purpose of this work is to substantiate the need for the competent use of mathematical terms in the speech of a teacher-mentor in order to form an objectively correct idea of the term system of mathematics in the student. The article provides the correct forms of using mathematical terms and concepts at different language levels. A list of vocabulary words is given, the spelling of which must be memorized.

TRAINING STUDENTS OF NON-INGUISTIC SPECIALTIES IN THE CONDITIONS OF THE PROFESSIONAL ENVIRONMENT DIGITALIZATION

The quality of human capital is determined by the level of education that can ensure effective socialization of university graduates in their future professional environment, as well as their adaptation to the ever-changing requirements of the modern labor market. The relevance of the article is caused by the need to create and approve new methods of teaching foreign languages, which allow to prepare graduates of non-linguistic universities to work in the conditions of digital transformation of their professional environment.

HYBRID TEACHING OF RUSSIAN AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE AND «SPEECH DEVELOPMENT» ISSUES AT A1-A2 LEVELS

The article is devoted to the problem of the organization of hybrid teaching of Russian as a foreign language at the levels A1-A2. The author characterizes the specifics features of the parallel combination of online learning with full-time, describes its conditions and identifies difficulties.

IRONIC STATEMENT AS AN INDIRECT SPEECH TACTICS: ON POLITICAL DISCOURSE BASIS

The article is devoted to the study of the irony multifunctional nature on English political discourse basis. The author considers irony as an expressive speech act reflecting emotional reactions to the situation and associated with the psychological attitude of the speaker.The research carried out gives us grounds to assert that the analyzed speech acts, as an indirect tactics of a producer intention express a number of functions, viz. attractive and persuasive ones, speech behavior intensification.

FEATURES OF THE PRONUNCIATION NORM CODIFICATION IN GERMAN ORTHOEPIC DICTIONARIES

The article presents some linguistic concepts of well-known linguists regarding the definition of the literary language, the correlation of the language norm and its variation, the interaction of orthoepic and orthographic norms. It is noted that the orthoepic dictionary of the German language is a fundamental work of the scientific normalizIng activity of German phoneticians. The pronunciation trends of the normalization of the German literary language, formed during the 18th - 21st centuries, are presented.

THE MAIN FEATURES OF REGISTERING PRONUNCIATION VARIANTS IN THE 3rd EDITION OF THE OXFORD ENGLISH DICTIONARY ONLINE (OED)

The article analyzes the main features of registering variant characteristics of English vowels and consonants, as well as of the suprasegmental means in the 3rd edition of the Oxford English Dictionary Online. A new notation for indicating pronunciation in British and American English is considered in detail and, according to the phonetic editors of the dictionary, transformational phenomena in the articulation of a number of phonemes are also presented.

EVOLUTION OF THE PHONETIC TRANSCRIPTION SYSTEM IN THE OXFORD ENGLISH DICTIONARY (OED)

The article, based on the material of three editions of the authoritative Oxford English Dictionary, examines some evolutionary features of the pronunciation representation system in this general dictionary, which in recent years has gained extraordinary popularity after publishing of the online edition.
