TO THE HISTORY OF PHONETICS OF UNIVERSALS (rhythmic aspect)

Problems of searching for universals, types and specific properties of the language system have been in the focus of attention of linguists for many years. Universals are explicated on all modules of language and speech. One of the striking characteristics that mark the identity of the language system is the rhythm of speech. The material for the analysis deals with the results of research in the field of verbal rhythmology and phonetic science.

EXPERIMENTS ON PERCEPTION OF ENGLISH ORAL TEXTS (ROLE OF THE LINGUISTIC CODE IN FORMING ITS AXIOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT)

The paper discusses the results of a psychometric experiment on axiological assessment of the linguistic code (intonation, voice qualities and diction of the speakers) of texts of different genres with participation of subjects.

DIDACTIC POTENTIAL OF RUSSIAN INTERNET RESOURCES IN TEACHING THE SKILLS OF LISTENING, SPEAKING AND WRITING IN DISTANCE LEARNING FORMAT AT NON-LANGUAGE FACULTIES (BACHELOR'S DEGREE LEVEL)

The article discusses the characteristics of distance teaching a foreign language using free Internet resources to students of non-linguistic faculties in a bachelor’s programme. The analysis of the main difficulties in teaching listening, speaking and writing at the level of words, statements and text using Internet resources providing the process of learning a foreign language is carried out.

CURRENT CHANGES IN EDUCATION DUE TO DIGITALIZATION OF SOCIETY

Fast-growing digital economy in the current era of globalization makes instructors adapt to the new goals and objectives of teaching. Digital means of education, on-line courses, electronic educational resources are gaining more and more popularity. Digital educational environment is being formed that implies joint work of pedagogues and students as well as students’ preparation to their professional activity in the changing digital world.

FUNCTIONAL FEATURES OF MEMES IN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE STUDYING

The article analyzes German-language Internet memes as a kind of polycode texts in the process of learning a foreign language, and also considers the most frequent aspects, such as linguistic-cultural and event-based ones. As an important and distinctive part of the Internet culture, this phenomenon is especially relevant for researchers when communication from its real and virtual spheres is closely intertwined and covers almost all spheres of modern human activity.

TEACHING SCIENTIFIC SPEECH USING AN AUDIO COURSE

The article discusses the topical issue of teaching scientific speech to foreign students in the era of digital education. Such aspects of the problem as the interaction of a student and a teacher in a distance mode, the use of information technologies in the educational process, the active use of audio and video materials, and other teaching multimedia as digital educational tools are considered.

ONLINE DICTIONARIES AS AN AUXILIARY TOOL IN THE EDUCATIONAL PROCESS

The paper presents the description of modern online English dictionaries from the point of view of their use in the educational process. Special attention is given to monolingual explanatory dictionaries which have an explicit educational focus due to intensive development of new information technologies and changes in the user’s profile. The orientation of dictionaries to the user causes a change in the functionality of such reference books, since their educational, reference and systematizing nature is enhanced.

DIGITALIZATION AND RESEARCH WORK WITH STUDENTS: THE EXPERIENCE OF THE DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES AND LINGUISTICS OF ISUCT

The article describes the experience of the Department of Foreign Languages and Linguistics of ISUCT in organizing research work with students in the conditions of digitalization. The introduction of innovative technologies in various spheres of life has a linguistic reflection and researchers face the task of new professional terms interpreting. This research work aim is to form information and terminological competence of students in accordance with the principles of interdisciplinarity and integration of professional and linguistic knowledge of students.

THE ONLINE OXFORD ENGLISH DICTIONARY AS A BASIS FOR STUDENTS’ RESEARCH PROJECT ACTIVITIES

The main goal of the article is to share the experience of using the resources of the online Oxford English Dictionary (OED) in teaching English for Specific Purposes (ESP) to the students of chemistry, this problem being important in the context of distant learning. In practical terms, research projects carried out on the OED material allow students to obtain systematic data on the etymology, pronunciation, semantics of professionally-oriented terms, homonyms, polysemantic words and phraseological units.
