The article discusses the advantage of the multimodal principle in the organization of distance learning of the Russian language as a foreign language at A1-A2 levels. The author demonstrates how polycode lesson content is formed by mixing multimodal learning objects that combine various sign codes of a verbal and non-verbal nature. Due to this, the teaching discourse of the lesson becomes a visual, semantic and structural whole, which provides a comprehensive pragmatic impact on students.

The article describes the ways of using online board Padlet to develop written communication of undergraduate students who study German as a second foreign language. Online boards are an effective alternative to chalk boards, which have the following benefits: multi-format, confidentiality, remote access during distance classes.

The article provides a critical understanding of the changes in the modern system of school and university education, which determines the functional restructuring of a teacher and his/her activities during the transition to digital educational content.
